Schlumberger Petrel 2022

Description

Schlumberger Petrel 2022

umberger Petrel is an integrated software for studying and solving all underground challenges, including seismic information interpretation and reservoir simulation. Petrel provides an integrated process for the development and monitoring of static and dynamic reservoir models, thus eliminating all communication problems between different software for the preparation and development of these models separately and the inconsistency of input data at any stage or loss. It prevents them from being lost during data exchange, which occurs when using different software.
Features of Schlumberger Petrel software:

– All the necessary tools from seismic interpretation to reservoir simulation are integrated in an integrated software, which solves all the problems of import / export of data between software.

– Very strong 3D display capability

– Ability to update very quickly when entering new data to make faster and safer decisions

– Ability to copy / paste results and data in any program under Windows for simple and fast preparation of various reports

– Has a user-friendly graphical interface with undo / redo capability and model history storage for easier use and learning

Release updates

DATA
Studio E&P knowledge platform no longer supports Oracle

The Studio platform has retired support for Oracle deployments and any existing Oracle connections will be hidden when selecting a Studio 2022.1 database connection. Oracle has also been removed as a service provider when creating new connections in the Petrel platform. For more information or to find out more about migrating your Studio platform installation to SQL Server, please contact your local account manager.
Data templates to enable wind energy workflows

Twenty new data templates have been added to Petrel 2022.1 to support wind energy workflows. The Petrel platform’s list of predefined templates now includes cone resistance, sleeve friction resistance, pore pressure on cone, soil moisture, and more. A full list of templates is available in the Petrel platform Help section.

INTERPRETATION
Well section window usability

Petrel 2022.1 delivers a raft of usability improvements in the well section window, making day-to-day interpretation tasks easier. From well header text autowrapping to displaying pattern and color of point well data, well top attributes, and checkshots, working in the well section window has never been easier.
Window layering support

Layering support has been added to the interpretation and intersection windows in Petrel 2022.1, enabling users to change and update the order of displayed objects the same way you can for map windows.
Raster logs flexibility

Importing raster logs into the Petrel platform is now more flexible as you no longer need a reference file (*.lic, *.xml, *.sif, *.reg) to complete the import and to use the legacy raster functionalities. Once imported, you can use the new Raster Digitization dialog box to manually digitize raster logs and bitmap logs.
Interpreter preferences

In Petrel 2022.1, it is now easier than ever to manage your well top interpreter preferences. Ensure that the well top picks interpreted by your expert are given priority when creating surfaces and when well tops are displayed in the well section window.
Surface performance improvements

Petrel 2022.1 delivers performance improvements for surface creation and conversion, enabling you to work faster and focus on the analysis and decisions that matter. Creating a dip/azimuth surface is now 4× faster than previous versions of the Petrel platform, and converting a surface to points is now 2× faster.
Compressed ZGY update

The compression method used in the Petrel platform has been updated to OpenZGY compression. The open-source format uses a similar algorithm to the previous method, has a more uniform noise signature and is fully supported in The Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) and Petrel platform workflows. The new compression method also does not require the creation of an intermediate uncompressed ZGY, and directly outputs ZGY from SEG-Y files. ZGY files created using the old-style compression method are fully supported in Petrel 2022.1 and in future versions of the platform.

RESERVOIR MODELING
Volume calculation reporting

Improvements in the accuracy and reporting of volume calculations is delivered in Petrel 2022.1. When overlapping boundaries are provided in 3D volume calculations and map-based volume calculations, it is now possible to display the correct results of individual or subset boundary filters in the Histogram window. Additionally, you can now disable the automatic reporting of region properties in the volumetric spreadsheet, thereby improving reporting performance.

RESERVOIR AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING
Compositional and thermal fluid models improvements

In the ‘Make fluid’ process you can now enrich the modeling of your fluid to better capture the compositional and thermal physics behaviors. You can now define: the diffusion of components in liquid and vapor phases (compatible with INTERSECT 2021.4 and later)
Vapor-liquid and vapor-aqueous K-values as a function of pressure, temperature, and composition for nonlinear interpolation (supported by both ECLIPSE and INTERSECT)
Simplified Field Management template

You can now define simple logic for assigning or modifying fields of several flow entities based on given conditions using a compact tabular input as a new template in Field Management. It internally expands to a sequence of static lists, dynamic lists, actions, and instruction.
